let's escape to the mountains

Look at Our Multi Day Elopement from Iowa to Colorado

Our Multi day Elopement was something I couldn’t wait to share.

We started in Iowa, and went from the East coast to Colorado!

We had a handful of amazing vendors, which I will credit at the end of this post! Our day .. well more like month, because we had 3 wedding celebrations, was pretty amazing.

The beginning of our Multi Day Elopement

We legally wed on our 3 year anniversary, June 26, 2019 at the Waverly Library in their butterfly garden. Originally.. we wanted to run away to the mountains and elope, but our families (20 people) wouldn’t have all been able to make it, which led to us deciding to throw 3 parties.

Planning was fun, and looking back I almost wished I had a few more months to maybe care a little more about details… but meh.

Our “Wedding” celebration was Saturday, June 29 in my parents backyard.
The day started with picking up Lori from the hotel, and bagels from HyVee because carbs are life.

One minute I was just getting to my parents house, the next my dress was on and I was writing my vows on the floor.

Truly the worst part about our day… the F’ing heat. With the heat index it felt right around 120 degrees. It was humid, it was muggy, it was miserable.
But – we had each other, so we didn’t care.

Things We would change about our Multi Day Elopement

1: We bought too much alcohol + soda
2: Possibly having a venue, we did our best with AC in the barn, but everything was outdoors, and everyone was just hot.
3: Getting married in the mountains, or not in Summer..
4: The heat, mostly because I wanted to use the backyard for photos but it was just too hot for family photos outside haha. Photographer probs.

Multi Day Elopement best moment..

At the end of Saturday, it was around 1:30 in the morning..
We never made it to the bar.. oops
but we sat down on the couch and just stared around at the empty barn, things picked up, and just talked for a few minutes.

We were sweaty, and gross, but we enjoyed our day. It was awesome to be able to celebrate and just have a moment alone at the end of it.

Plus the cold shower + pizza in bed when we got home a little later was the best.

There isn’t much we would change about our day. We had a few hiccups getting to our day, and stuff that makes me a little sad.. but you know at the end of the day, we have each other.

We had a week with both our families, and again with my mom out in Massachusetts / Maine for our third celebration.

So, it wasn’t totally picture perfect. Who cares. It’s us, and we’re not really picture perfect 100% of the time anyway.
