No first look at wedding? Honestly no problem with me! I don’t care if you don’t want to see each other before your ceremony, this is you + your partner’s day, do it however it feels right!
I do as a photographer have ideas to be able to weddingmaxxing? Is that a current trend we’re calling it?
Either way I have an opinion on how to plan the flow of your wedding by using multi day coverage so that you can have your cake and eat it too for lack of better words.

No first look Wedding? Or should I do a first look?
The first look is something a lot of modern couples will do (or get ready together with their partner) so that they don’t have to spend the whole day apart.
It also is super handy for getting photos with wedding party + family members done before the ceremony and cocktail hours.
Basically if you do a first look = more time together, more time with your guests
What about sunset? A photographer on facebook mentioned we have to otherwise no photos together during golden hour…
Which yeah in a way that photographer on facebook is not wrong. If you have a priority of golden hour portraits but you’re having a fall wedding with an early sunset time and a shot list of 40+ combos.. it’ll feel tight. You might feel rushed.
It really truly depends what you want the most from your wedding day(s).
Here’s my opinion on doing multi day coverage if you don’t want to do a first look..
Hear me out… We do your family photos the day before. Either before or after rehearsal, whether or not you’re doing a welcome dinner.
This way we can get to know your family + friends early, you could even be in cocktail wear vs full wedding wear making for sharing and printing not “just your wedding photo” but more of a family session vibe at the first day of your wedding.
Day 1: Welcome Dinner + Family Photos
2:00 pm – Meet up for walk through at your venue
3:00 pm – Extended Family arrives for photos
4:30 pm – Finish up on family photos
5:00 pm – Welcome dinner begins
6:00 pm – Toasts + Speeches
7:00 pm – Depart until tomorrow
Day 2: Wedding Day
10:00 am – Arrive for details + flatlays
11:00 am – Getting ready moments
12:00 pm – Lunch is served
1:00 pm – Read private letters to each other
2:00 pm – Photos with each partner’s wedding parties separately
3:00 pm – Immediately family photos with each partner’s parents / siblings
4:00 pm – Break before ceremony
5:00 pm – Ceremony Coverage
5:30 pm – Couple’s sunset photos together
6:15 pm – Rejoin cocktail hour
6:30 pm – Prepare for dinner and reception entrance
7:00 pm – Welcome Toast + Dinner served
8:00 pm – Thank you toast
8:30 pm – First dance as a married couple
8:45 pm – 10:00 pm Reception coverage
The goal is to be with your people without just turning your day into a photoshoot only. You don’t have to do a first look, you can do your day how you want!
