Elopement Photography FAQ: What you need to know with me

Elopement Photographer FAQ

I am never upset if you’re still figuring things out, need an extra minute, or want to make sure you’re in my inbox now and booking tomorrow. This is a big decision and it deserves thoughtful questions and thoughtful answers.

TL;DR:

Still deciding? You’re not alone, and you’re not late. Below are the most common questions couples ask before booking, with real answers to help you feel confident and calm about what’s next.

Elopement Photographer FAQ

“Is full-day coverage really necessary for an elopement?”

Short answer: Yes, if you want the whole experience.

Longer answer: My couples aren’t just doing a ceremony and a few photos—they’re hiking, swimming, eating cake on cliffs, calling their family, reading letters, dancing under the stars. It’s your whole wedding day, even if you’ve ditched the big wedding. Full-day coverage lets you soak it in and relive it fully later.

“Where in Washington should we Elope?”

Short Answer: I’m obsessed with Mount Baker (lol)

Longer Answer: Truly where you elope, if Washington is your chosen state, depends on what you and your partner are like. Do you want to go in the backcountry and have all the privacy, or do you want a little more easy to just park with views, OR do you want the ADHD challenge of hitting up multiple locations within a few days to have an epic, thick, heirloom album

“We’re still figuring out location/logistics… should we wait to book?”

Nope, this is exactly when to book. Most of my couples reach out before they know the where/when. That’s part of what I help with location scouting, permit research, timeline planning, even helping you figure out what this day could look like.

I’m not just a photographer. I’m part of your planning team.

“What if I’m feeling overwhelmed.. just where do I even start?”

That’s totally normal! I do so much homework for my clients and have a lot of guide blogs on my favorite locations already (I’ll drop below!) You truly just need to trust me because I am fully invested in my clients elopements & weddings and will be there every step of the way. You’re never alone when you have me in your corner!

“What’s the investment—and what do we actually get?”

Most of my couples spend between $7,500–$12,000+ on full-day to multi day elopement coverage.

That includes:

  • Photo coverage from start to stargazing (8–12 hours)
  • Film + digital photography (plus BTS iPhone moments)
  • Location + vendor guidance
  • Timeline building
  • Sneak previews within 48 hours
  • Full gallery delivery within 6-8 weeks

No fluff, no templates. Just real, artful storytelling that captures what it felt like not just what it looked like.

👉🏻 What to Look for in an Elopement Photographer

“What if we’re awkward in front of the camera?”

Then you are exactly my kind of people. I work best with couples who aren’t models—they’re real humans who want to be present, not posey.

I’ll guide when needed, step back when it matters most, and create a space where you can actually be yourselves.

“Do you stay with us or where do you stay during travel?”

My travel is included in your invoice (domestic & internnational) and I book all my own accomidations. While I’m super flattered that you’d want me to stay with you, I like giving my clients privacy so I’ll be nearby, but not on top of you all!

“Do we get to talk before booking?”

Yep, always. After I confirm your date is open, I’ll send over a quick booking guide and we’ll hop on a Zoom call to talk through your ideas, answer questions, and vibe-check our energy.

If it’s a hell yes for both of us, we move forward.

“For my wedding, when will we start planning?”

Right away! My full on boarding process will give you a timeline for when we will discuss what but it typically looks like this:

  • On boarding email with expectations
  • Date night questionnaire so I can customize more to you and your needs
  • Engagement Session *if included & planning
  • Timeline planning, Family Photos, and ideas ~3 months prior to your date
  • Turn around on images, album design, and prints delivered
