Elopement Legend Award Winner Image #1 Bailey + Derek
They got married in Hawaii, and if you want to see more of their day I have their O’ahu elopement blogged right here.
This image was from when they privately shared their vows without seeing each other. The emotions were full on laughing to crying. Plus, this personal moment was away from their parents and siblings so they could fully be in it.
You’re allowed to bring a few guests with you, and you’re allowed to have moments just to yourself. It’s your day, wake up and do what feels right!
Second Winner Image, Vows in the Rocky Mountains
This double exposure was created afterwards, so not in camera, but the idea was still there. During their elopement I photographed details after we got back from their vows & ceremony because it was sunrise so didn’t have light yet when I first arrived!
I wanted to let you in on the personal aspect of elopements, they’re not just a “running away” type of wedding. It’s truly for the couples who know this represents them more than a large wedding ever would have.
When my couples are sharing vows privately I always try to compose my image a little further back, if you want to see another version before I cropped it for the contest I have the horizontal below!
For this image, I was picturing it as a canvas or framed print. I wanted that horizontal option, plus love how you can see more of the rocky mountain map with that one!
Sometimes with contests you have to crop and play around with an image to tell the story faster. That way the judge can see themselves in the moment. So alas, I entered the vertical crop and she won!
