Salisbury House & Gardens is one of my absolute favorite venues in Des Moines, Iowa! If you love gardens, and historic homes you will love just as much.

The weddings you can host here can range from bright and colorful, to “Clue” moody vibes!

I mean, it does have that.. “It girl” factor when you style it just right 🤭

Salisbury House and ceremony in the Garden

The front lawn is one of my favorite, dramatic, and nature filled ways to host your wedding ceremony.

You not only get the extra long entrance walk from the mansion, but you can arrange the seating in so many different patterns.

Or it’s possible to have the chairs facing you as you walk down, or more traditionally have it face towards the front of the aisle.

You could even have your entrance on either sidewalk as you come down.

Maybe you + your partner will enter together! I’ve seen a few different ways so whichever speaks to you both, let’s do that.

Backyard Carriage House for cocktail hour

Depending on the size of your wedding you can have multiple spaces having activities.

The back carriage house is perfect for dancing and cocktails!

Then you have the front yard we can take extra portraits in, and the side yard where you can set up a tent for dinner service.

The parking lot is off to the side so we really don’t have to worry about clipping cars in any of your photos.

Rehearsal in the great room, with a side of a tour

Using the indoor space is perfect for rehearsal dinner! You have the big windows to set up your table in front of, and your guests to mingle around you + the artwork of the room.

Plus let’s take a tour of the whole house and take in all the museum has to offer.

Maybe sneak some portraits in the purple bathroom upstairs?!
