Salisbury House in Des Moines, Iowa is hands down one of my favorite wedding venues to come back to year after year. The staff, amazing, the history and architecture, love. It’s just a mix where you can easily go garden party with tons of colorful floral, or moody mansion.
For 2026, I was honored to be the photographer for my clients who were their first outdoor wedding of the season! The weather was perfect for May, not too hot, not too cold, a mix of overcast and golden sunshine.

Front Lawn Ceremony at Salisbury House in Des Moines
My couple, T+M, did their ceremony with white lawn chairs in the front garden. The shade gives it the perfect lighting for a 4:30 start time. Plus, I do love a long entrance from the door of the mansion.
Side Yard for the Tented Dinner
The side year is perfect for a tented dinner. You can get the coverage, the design, and have a sweetheart table all to yourself. Will always love a tented outdoor wedding reception at Salisbury House.
Band in the Garage, neighbors jamming from their porch
Weddings with a live band just truly hit different. It’s a completely different vibe when you have your friends on a checkered dance floor, outdoors, in the heat of a Des Moines Spring, the drinks and desserts served… It truly is that dopamine hit that makes planning a wedding with all your favorite people worth it.
Plus couldn’t help but giggle seeing the neighbors jamming from their porch to the band!
