Have you been searching for your dream wedding venue in Washington?

What about an outdoor wedding venue at a vineyard? How about a venue with views of the Blue Mountains that’s absolutely perfect for an intimate, small wedding?

Sounds just like what you had in mind? Then you definitely will not be disappointed with Yellowhawk Resort, which is in the heart of Walla Walla Wine Country.

I recently had the joy of capturing Charlotte and Jack’s celebration here. This was the perfect place for them, and it was also a fantastic wedding venue for a micro-wedding!

Read on to discover more about Yellowhawk Resort and why you should consider having a micro wedding vs a big wedding/adventure elopement.

Yellowhawk Resort

Yellowhawk Resort is an 84-acre hilltop retreat right outside of Walla Walla, Washington. It has expansive wheat fields and breathtaking vineyard views, and if you’re a wine fan, you’ll love being able to sample a variety of notable award-winning sparkling wines.

If you want to plan your wedding here, you can choose from a variety of locations throughout the property for your ceremony and reception, including the stunning estate vineyard, on the lawn, or in their indoor reception space. They also have an indoor Tasting Room where you can have your reception with up to 50 guests.

Just imagine having your ceremony on the lawn surrounded by rows and rows of grapevines and then seamlessly transitioning to your reception without ever having to worry about leaving the space!

At Yellowhawk Resort, you can have everything all in one place — you can exchange your vows in the fresh, open air, dine next to the vineyards and watch the sunset with your loved ones, and then dance the night away under the stars and twinkling lights.

This is such an amazing location for your intimate wedding. You’ll be nestled away in a private, serene setting surrounded by nature, creating a cozy and warm atmosphere that feels reminiscent of a backyard gathering.

Charlotte and Jack’s Wedding at Yellowhawk Resort

Charlotte and Jack chose Yellowhawk Resort for their wedding because they dreamed of having a wedding setting that could capture the charm of a backyard celebration while still having plenty of space for a party with their loved ones.

They both also wanted a private and intimate wedding, which was why Yellowhawk Resort was the perfect fit for their vision and their 50 guests.

To bring their wedding vision to life, Jack and Charlotte wanted documentary-style photography that would capture the day’s genuine, emotional moments so that they could be fully present in their day without the constraints of a strict timeline to follow or having to make time for posed family photos, group portraits, etc.

They really wanted to enjoy and be a part of every moment with their guests—eating, celebrating, and dancing—free from the pressure of a rigid schedule or having to do anything extra just to capture a specific photo.

All of this was made possible through the resort and Jack and Charlotte’s vendors – I wanted to give a special shout-out to their amazing vendors who made their day so special:

Why Have a Micro Wedding vs. Big Wedding vs. Adventure Elopement

Nothing about having a small guest list has to be boring!

Having a micro wedding vs. a big wedding or an adventure elopement means that you still have all your loved ones celebrating you and your partner and that they can spend more meaningful moments with you.

With a big wedding, a large guest list often limits how much time you can spend with each guest, and it can also be really exhausting trying to spend time with everyone. A micro wedding allows you to spend each moment fully with your guests and create special memories with just them without having to worry about if you took pictures or said hello to everyone.

Also, with a micro wedding, you can make your wedding more intentional—for example, you can have your best friend do your makeup or have a close friend or family member officiate your ceremony.

You have the freedom to personalize your day as much as you want without having to stress about accommodating a large guest list or adhering to extremely strict timelines.

With adventure elopements, you get even more of that intimacy and you get the joy of exploring a new place or going on an adventure. However, it can sometimes be hard to include some of the people you want to in your elopement.

For example, some places may be hard for guests to access (like hiking up a mountain), or some locations may be so small that there isn’t room for everyone you would want to invite.

While big weddings, adventure elopements, and micro weddings are all popular and right for couples for different reasons, I have to say that the best thing about a micro wedding is that you can spend more time with your loved ones celebrating you and your partner however you want without having the extra stress that comes with catering to a larger group. The focus is on YOU and your partner, which is what your wedding should be all about.
