let's escape to the mountains

Adventurous South Dakota Elopement // Skiing at Black Hills

More adventurous elopements like Andrea + Austin’s for 2023 and beyond! Their South Dakota elopement included having a slow morning together drinking coffee, having an adventurous afternoon skiing, and cheers’ing some beers while they’re at it. It’s like they stole my dream elopement idea and took it for themselves – which I’m totally not mad at. Super excited to share their day with you!

South Dakota Skiing Elopement

Andrea + Austin chose to elope in Lead, South Dakota near the national forest and Black Hills. I love this part of the state because there are so many adventurous things to do (and it doesn’t feel as flat as the rest of the midwest… no shade) for an elopement. Whether you’re a local or you’re looking for an rad place to tie the knot, I recommend checking out this area!

Now… I know you probably don’t see a ton of couples takin’ it slow on their elopement day and then doing something like skiing and snowboarding afterwards.

“Wait… who said we were allowed to do that?’

I DID. Newsflash: you’re allowed to do whatever the hell you want on your elopement day. This is the one day of your life that no one can judge you for being completely, 100% selfish. Got it? Cool. Now, start thinking about what the elopement of your dreams entails and then get back to me.

You deserve all the important memories

Another misconception about elopements like these is that you don’t need documentation because you’re not having a huge party. Well, whoever told you that needs to come talk to me, because I couldn’t disagree more. Andrea + Austin wanted every part of their day documented, from their chill morning in the cabin to their ski lift adventure. No matter how you choose to celebrate it, it’s your WEDDING. And your WEDDING memories deserve to be preserved!

All throughout their day, A + A were intimate, goofy, and just plain ol’ themselves. They weren’t stressed about what time their guests were arriving or about sticking as close to their timeline as possible… A + A JUST HAD FUN. They got to hang out together for the entire day, which, in my humble opinion, is the most important part of a day like this. That sounds like the freaking dream, right??
